| One of the most popular butterflies studied
and collected by people around the world is the
blue morpho. Shown in this display of six assorted
butterflies, the morpho shows off it's shiny, iridescent
wings. Aside from their color, morphos have
other interesting traits. These diurnally active
butterflies have the capability of "crypsis".
This means that when they sleep, they fold their
wings so that only the dark underside is seen,
which makes them virtually invisible to predators.
