is a Killer Bee?
A Killer Bee, or Africanized Bee (mellifera scutellata),
took many years to establish its colonies throughout
South and Central America and now its in the United
States. The bee is aggressive, easily agitated,
and generally a bee with a bad attitude. Some
scientists and entomologists believe that the
Africanized bees will be able to adapt to colder
weather and thereafter will roam as far North
as Montana. Africanized bees react to disturbances
around the hive and they can stay angry for days
after being pissed off. If you are in the path
of a swarm of Africanized Killer Bees, they say
that you have
a seventy-five percent chance of a deadly attack.
Over a thousand people have died so far with the
victims having received ten times as many bee
stings than they would from European Honey Bees.
Killer Bees are slightly smaller than the European
honey bee (Apis Mellifera), but only an expert
or entomologist can tell the two apart!
